Fist, “S.O.W. of Wellness Foods” would like to apologize for the poor audio quality. This video is about our visit to Tacugama Chimpanzee Reserve. We first saw Bala Amarasekaran, giving a passionate commentary about the destruction of the Mount Sugar Loaf in Sierra Leone destructive mudslide on Unreported World reported Seyi Rhodes, August 2017.

Source of Wellness Foods (S.O.W. Foods) is the marketing brand of Exodus Trust Intl. At SOW we are always looking for community partners that share “SOW Foods” passion for sustainable social and economic development.

We didn’t know how this will takes us to a Chimpanzee Reserve, but here we are talking with Bala Amarasekaran the founder of Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
We drove around Freetown many times. Tacugama is located just on the outskirts of Freetown, in the Western Area Peninsula National Park.

Although we heard about the Chimpanzee place, as folks called it. We never thought to visit the reserve. That change when we hear Bala Amarasekara’s unique perspective on the flood.

Bala explains in simple language, how caring for a chimpanzee is beneficial to the forest, drinking water and especially us humans.
Their mission “… is to use education and community conservation to eliminate the wildlife trade and safeguard the remaining natural habitats in the country. Through law enforcement, eco-tourism, livelihoods programs, and chimpanzee rehabilitation, “Tacugama Chimpanzee Reserve” engages local communities and multidisciplinary stakeholders to secure the future of Sierra Leone.”

“Tacugam Chimpanzee Reserve” has a great website where you too can learn more about them. Also, to learn more and see videos, with better sound quality, visit their media link.
